I discovered these by total accident. An acquaintance asked me what images the word 'Americana' brought to mind and I sent him pictures of race riots, a 1970's Miss America protest, and a 1950's ad for meat. He responded with a William Eggleston photograph; I got the point. I'm familiar with Walker Evans' work with the Farm Security Administration (part of FDR's New Deal, which I spent most of yesterday reading about after having a really intense discussion at 7 AM with Marian about), and figured it'd be an older, depressing sort of Americana, but in the search suggestions box 'walker evans polaroids' showed up.
